This trip combines beautiful scenery, historical monuments, and nomadic lifestyle, all within a relaxed schedule.  Highlights on this tour include some of the most historically and religiously important monasteries of Mongolia You will also be able to hike around and look in a couple of extinct volcano craters, which are in wonderfully picturesque areas. There are also activity highlights such as visits to reindeer, camel, and horse breeder families and there you can try a reindeer ride, horse and camel ride As if that wasn’t enough, we also take you to the heart of the Gobi desert where you can see glaciers and sand dunes and hike around the area claimed to be the “Land of dinosaurs”. Attraction places: Ulaanbaatar city is the capital of Mongolia finally settled on its present site in 1778. Holy mountains surround it; the Bogd Uul Mountain to the south, the Songino Mountain to the west, the Bayanzurkh Mountain to the east and the Chingeltei Mountain to the north.

Activity: Sightseeing around Ulaanbaatar such as National historical Museum, Palace Museum of Bogd King, Zaisan memorial hill, Sukhbaatar’s square, etc.

Day 2 Drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery.

Attraction places: Amarbayasgalant monastery was established by order of Manju emperor king Enkh-Amgalan Khan built between ”1727-1736” for giving respect to his teacher Undur Gegeen Zanabazar. The monastery consists of over 30 temples. It is one of the less destroyed monasteries in Communist time and the Mongolian government protected it since 1943. It is an excellent place to enjoy the Buddhist cultural heritage of Mongolia. 

Activity: Visit the exotic Amarbayasgalant monastery and enjoy its history. Hiking in and around the monastery and take some good pictures.

Day 3 Drive to Huvsgul National park. Hike to the Uran Togoo volcano crater.

Attraction places: Bulgan province has an area of 48.7 thousand km square and 65 thousand population. All territory of the province is located in the Hangai zone and is quite a mountainous and forestry place. The nature view in the area is quite attractive and there are plenty of animals, plants, rivers, and lakes. Uran Togoo extinct volcano is located in a beautifully scenic area of Khutag-Undur soum. This beautiful mountain was protected as a natural monument since 1965. There are several kinds of rare and wild animals in the mountain and its surrounding places.

Activity: Hike to the Uran Togoo extinct volcano and around the crater. Here you will have a great opportunity to compare this volcano crater to Khorgo. Explore the wildlife, fauna, and flora of the area. Visit a nomadic family and interest in their nomadic way of life.

Day 4 Drive to Huvsgul Lake National Park. Take a boat tour.

Attraction places: Huvsgul Lake National Park is the largest freshwater and the most beautiful lake in the country exists. The lake has an area of 2612 km square and 262 m deep. It contains 1% of world freshwater.  The area is a paradise for outdoor travelers and there are plenty of activities such as hiking, birding, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, exploring, etc.

Activity: Discover the lake by taking a boat tour. Enjoy more the lake by trekking. Take lovely nature pictures. Explore the flora and fauna of the area.

Day 5 Visit a local Tsaatan or reindeer family and explore their lifestyle

Attraction places: Tsaatan or reindeer people are the people who live in the northernmost part of Mongolia. Usually, they live in a high and cool dense forest of Taiga mountains. They keep reindeers and use reindeers’ meat and milk for their food needs and ride them in the forest. There are no many families in Huvsgul province and the Tsaatan population number is decreasing at the present time.

Activity: Visit a local Tsaatan or reindeer family and explore their lifestyle. You may try riding a reindeer. Horse riding (1 hour). Relax in the beautiful nature.

Day 6 Drive to Jaragalant small town. You may take a bath of hot spring.

Attraction places: Jargalant is a small town on the way to Murun, the capital of Huvsgul province. There is a hot spring which is sometimes used for medical interest.

Activity: You may take a bath of hot spring. Free hiking and explore the area. Play games.

Day 7 Drive to Horgo National Park& Terkh White Lake.

Attraction places: Horgo and Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National Park. A magnificent region of extinct volcanoes in Arkhangai province. 773 km square area, including Horgo extinct volcano and Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, was protected by the Mongolian government since 1965. The area was well known to the people by its pristine nature, majestic landscape, sheer – crystal lake, plenty of small caves and their wonderful legends. Horgo extinct volcano. Horgo Mountain was an active volcano about 8 thousand years ago. A splendid panorama over the whole region and the lake can be seen from the summit of the volcano.

Activity: Visit legendary Taikhar rock. Take a picture on the way and near the Chuluut river canyon. Visit Zuun Salaa mod which is a sacred tree by locals. Enjoy hiking to Horgo extinct volcano crater. View the panorama of the National Park and take pictures. Visit Yellow Dog’s cave, Ice cave, and Youth’s cave. Watching the lake birds by the Terkhiin Tsagaan lake.

Day 8 Enjoy a hiking to Horgo extinct volcano crater.

Attraction places: Horgo extinct volcano. The Khorgo Mountain was an active volcano about 8 thousand years ago. A splendid panorama over the whole region and the lake can be seen from the summit of the volcano. Terkhiin Tsaagan Nuur or White lake was formed when volcanic lava dammed the Suman River, cutting a large gorge through the basalt from a volcanic eruption. The lake and its surrounding area is an excellent place for bird watching. There can be observed numerous birds: Asian Dowitcher, Black Duck, Black Woodpecker, Far Eastern Curlew, Great Bustard, Lesser Kestrel, Pallas’s Eagle, Relict Gull, Swan Goose, White-napped Crane, etc.

Activity: Enjoy hiking to Horgo extinct volcano crater. View the panorama of the National Park and take pictures. Visit Yellow Dog’s cave, Ice cave, and Youth’s cave. Watching the lake birds by the Terkhiin Tsagaan lake. Free hiking on the lakeshore and hear the camp.

Day 9 Drive to Tsenher hot spring. Hiking in the forest & the pretty flowers.

Attraction places: Tsenkher hot spring is located among the foresty mountains in Tsenkher soum, Arkhangai province. The spring is 97C hot and the spring water is good for your skin and bones. There are 2 small swimming pools dedicated to guests sunbathing.

Activity: You can have a bath in the spring water. Hiking in the forest and admire the pretty flowers. Read the book outside. Play games.

Day 10 Drive to Karakorum and Erdenezuu monastery.

Attraction places: the Karakorum was the capital of the Mongolian Great Empire of Chinggis Khaan in the 13th century. Now it is one of the biggest soum of Mongolia and there are some places where tourists like to visit, including ancient Erdenezuu monastery, Turtle Rock, Penis Rock, and Great Kings’ monument. Erdenezuu monastery was established in 1586 and was protected by the Mongolian government since 1944. The monastery has 108 stupas, an active temple and a worthy monastery museum that displays the Buddhist cultural items between the 16-18th century mostly.

Activity: Take photos on the way Erdenezuu monastery. its a famous museum. Visit funny Penis Rock, Great Kings’ monument and Turtle Rock where you may see the panoramic view of Karakorum and Erdenezuu monastery. Hiking to the Orkhon River.

Day 11 Drive to Ongi temple ruins. Visit to a rebuilt main temple.

Attraction places: Ongi Temple which was one of the biggest monasteries of Mongolia in the 18th century. The temple was established in both rights and lift bank of Gobi River – Ongi. Then it was destroyed in the communist time. There is a small ger museum where you can see very interesting remainders of the ancient monastery. Wonderful evening view of the ruin is perfect for good shots!

Activity: Visit a rebuilt main temple and a small ger museum which displays a leader monk’s used items. Hike to a type of ancient stupa ruin. Hike around the area and take some good photos.

Day 12 Drive to Bayanzag. Visit small Paleontology museum of Bayanzag.

Attraction places: Bayanzag, where you will see famous Flaming Cliffs and the forest of Gobi saxaul trees. The area is famous for its dinosaur findings which lived there 70 million years ago. Especially, dinosaur fossilized eggs and several types of dinosaur bones were found in Bayanzag's first time in the world by America scientist Roy Chapmen in 1922. The cliff of Bayanzag looks pretty orange-like “Flame” when the sun sets.

Activity: Visit the small Paleontology museum of Bayanzag and Interest some findings were founded by locals. Free walk & photograph in flaming cliffs and saxaul forest. If you want, you can look for dinosaur eggs and fossils. Watch 15 minutes fact film about Roy Chapmen’s expeditions in the camp.

Day 13 Drive to Khongor Sand Dunes. Visit the nomadic family and camel ride.

Attraction places: Khongor Sand Dunes is located in the western part of Southern Gobi province. The dunes extended about 180km and 300m high, it makes one of the biggest sand dunes in Mongolia. The sand dune color change, walking on dunes, riding camel and sun sitting are the most exciting things here. Nomadic family, this is a place you will visit a local nomadic family and experience their way of life. Most nomadic families in the Gobi usually have big number of camels and some goats.  The family will be a simple nomadic family near the dunes. Enjoy their hospitality, have some camel riding and try some dairy products.

Activity: Visit the nomadic family. 1-hour camel ride trial by the Khongor Sand Dunes. Free hiking and photograph in different parts of the sand dunes. Stargazing in the evening.

Day 14 Drive to Eagle Valley & Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park.

Attraction places: The Gobi, one of the world’s unusual natural zones and it covers many parts of Mongolia territory. Most people misunderstand the Gobi is like the desert of Sahara. In truth, the Gobi is much different and it has nomadic families and plenty of rare & domesticated animals such as two-humped Bactrian camel, Gobi bear, Ibex, gazelle, lizards, etc. Air temperature in the Gobi reaches +40 degree in summertime and -30 degree in wintertime. Big sand dunes and ancient dinosaur fossils are the symbols of the Gobi. Yolin Am or “Vulture Gorge” is an admirable picturesque place, surrounded by sheer rocky walls, with glaciers even in July and it was protected by the Mongolian government since 1965. There is a small museum of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. The museum displays the geographical condition, flora, fauna, minerals and some dinosaur fossils.

Activity: Natural Museum of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Hiking to a glacier and photographing in Yoliin Am, some wildlife viewing. Watch a movie named “Weeping camel” or others. Play Mongolian traditional game.

Day 15 Fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Take a city tour.

Attraction places: International Intellectual Museum displays over 11000 intellectual items from 130 countries around the world and over 5000 of them are puzzles. All the items are classified into 15 subcategories in order to make visitors understand the scientific nature of exhibits. Most of the displays of the museum represent various branches of sciences in simplified form by toys and puzzles. That fact that visitors are allowed to touch and challenge themselves by putting puzzles together. Show Traditional Folklore Concert. It is a witness of the wonder of Mongolian throat singing, melodious dancing, pliant contortionism, and melodious musical instruments.  

Activity: Fly to Ulaanbaatar from Dalanzadgad (Eznis, 1.5 hours). International Intellectual museum, shopping for souvenirs, cashmere and woolen products, Show Mongolian traditional folklore concert by Moon Stone or Tumen Ekh ensemble.
