How does cycling through one of the most uninhibited and untouched lands of the world sound to you? Challenging? But adventurous! This cycling trip will be through northern Mongolia, where the scenery is more picturesque than any other parts of the country and the area is suitable for adventurous cyclists. In addition to the cycling adventure and pleasure, you will stay by the shores of Huvsgul, the purest and the most marvelous lake of the country and visit Tsaatan or reindeer people in Huvsgul. Attraction places: Ulaanbaatar city is the capital of Mongolia finally settled on its present site in 1778. Holy mountains surround it; the Bogd Uul Mountain to the south, the Songino Mountain to the west, the Bayanzurkh Mountain to the east and the Chingeltei Mountain to the north.

Activity: Sightseeing around Ulaanbaatar such as National historical Museum, Palace Museum of Bogd King, Zaisan memorial hill, Sukhbaatar’s square, etc.

Day 2 Drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery. Take a photo.

Day 3 Cycling and driving about 40km both on dust road and asphalt.

Attraction places: Erdenet is the second biggest town of Mongolia. It was one of the three cities in communist time and now it is a center of Orkhon province which has the biggest strategic factory in Mongolia. Orkhon province has 848 km square area and about 70 thousand population.

Activity: Cycling and driving about 40km both on improved dust road and asphalt. Pass the Khushuut Mountain and see the beautiful view of the area.

Day 4 Cycling and driving to Uran Volcano in Bulgan province.

Attraction places: Uran Togoo extinct volcano is located in a beautifully scenic area of Khutag-Undur soum. This beautiful mountain was protected as a natural monument since 1965. There are several kinds of rare and wild animals in the mountain and its surrounding places.   

Activity: Cycling about 30 km on the dust road to Bulgan, the capital of Bulgan province and driving. Hike to the Uran Togoo extinct volcano and around the crater. Explore the wildlife, fauna, and flora of the area.

Day 5 Cycling about 25 km on the dust road to Teel river.

Attraction places: Bulgan province has an area of 48.7 thousand km square and 65 thousand population. All territory of the province is located in the Hangai zone and is quite a mountainous and forestry place. The nature view in the area is quite attractive and there are plenty of animals, plants, rivers, and lakes. The Teel river is a cute small river. The area around the river is pretty impressive for cycling.

Activity: Cycling about 25 km on the dust road to the Teel river. Visit a nomadic family and discover their nomadic way of life. Taste Mongolian traditional dairy products and drinks, optional horse riding.

Day 6 Cycling around 35 km on the dust road to Selenge river.

Attraction places: Selenge River is the biggest river in Mongolia and it is 992 km long. The river is a joint of Ider, Delgermurun, Eg, Orkhon, Yeruu, Tuul & many small rivers and finally, it flows to the Baikal Lake in Russia. The river has several types of fish Amur Catfish, Carp, Ide, Lenok, Pike, Siberian Roach, Taimen, etc. 

Activity: Cycling around 35 km on a dust road. Enjoy the day by hiking and then swimming in the river and so on. Play Mongolian traditional ankle bone shooting or other games.

Day 7 Cycling and driving 35 km on dust road to Namnan Mt & Ikh Uul village.

Attraction places: Huvsgul province has an area of 100.6 thousand km square and 123 thousand population. Murun, the center of Huvsgul province is located on the bank of Delgermurun River and it is in distance of 671 km from Ulaanbaatar. Most territories of the province covered with forest and there are big rivers like Selenge, Eg, Ider, Delgermurun and big lakes like Huvsgul, Sangiin Dalai & Dood. The natural condition of the province is very suitable to grow livestock and there are usually goats, sheep, and cow.

Activity: Cycling around 35 km on dust road to Namnan Mountain via Khutagundur on the first days. Cycling around 30 km on following day Ikh Uul village and enjoy the majestic view of nature on the way. Hiking, photographing and relaxing. Read your books.

Day 9 Drive to Hatgal soum. Cycling from Hatgal soum to Huvsgul lake.

Attraction places: Huvsgul Lake National Park is the largest freshwater and the most beautiful lake in the country exists. The lake has an area of 2612 km square and 262 m deep. It contains 1% of world freshwater.  The area is a paradise for outdoor travelers and there are plenty of activities such as hiking, birding, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, exploring, etc.

Activity: You can go shopping for basic stuff in Murun. Cycling from Hatgal soum to Huvsgul lake.  Discover the lake by taking a boat tour (1 .5 hour). Take lovely nature pictures and relaxation in the beautiful nature.

Day 10 Visit a local Tsaatan or reindeer family and explore their lifestyle.

Attraction places: Tsaatan or reindeer people are the people who live in the northernmost part of Mongolia. Usually, they live in the high and cool dense forest of Taiga mountains. They keep reindeers and use reindeers’ meat and milk for their food needs and ride them in the forest. There are no many families in Huvsgul province and the Tsaatan population number is decreasing at the present time. 

Activity: Visit a local Tsaatan or reindeer family and explore their lifestyle. You may try riding a reindeer. Horse riding (1hour). Enjoy the lake by trekking. Explore the flora and fauna of the area.

Day 11 Fly from Murun province. Take a city tour.

Attraction places: International Intellectual Museum displays over 11000 intellectual items from 130 countries around the world and over 5000 of them are puzzles. All the items are classified into 15 subcategories in order to make visitors understand the scientific nature of exhibits. Most of the displays of the museum represent various branches of sciences in simplified form by toys and puzzles. That fact that visitors are allowed to touch and challenge themselves by putting puzzles together. National Folklore Concert; it is a witness the wonder of Mongolian throat singing, melodious dancing, pliant contortionism, and melodious musical instruments.  

Activity: Fly to Ulaanbaatar from Murun (1.5 hours). International Intellectual museum, shopping for souvenirs, cashmere and woolen products and See the Mongolian traditional folklore concert by Moon Stone or Tumen Ekh ensemble.
