Do you want to experience adventure and nomadic culture while hiking through some of the wildest and beautiful landscapes in the world? Then this is the trip for you.  The Altai Mountain Trek takes you to the highlights of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Traveling from Ulgii, the center of the westernmost province to the summits of Altai Five Peaks through the eagle hunters’ homeland, our route takes us from arid fantastic landscapes through rich pastures and finally to the panoramic peaks of the Altai mountain range (over 4000 meters high). Your tour will be a mix of travel on and off the beaten track and some long road journeys with camel support. A tour for the explorer in you!

Attraction places: Ulaanbaatar city is The capital of Mongolia finally settled on its present site in 1778. Holy mountains surround it; the Bogd Uul Mountain to the south, the Songino Mountain to the west, the Bayanzurkh Mountain to the east and the Chingeltei Mountain to the north.

Activity: Sightseeing around Ulaanbaatar such as National historical Museum, Palace Museum of Bogd King, Zaisan memorial hill, Sukhbaatar’s square, etc.

Day 2 Fly to Ulgii (three and half hour). Take a local city tour.

Attraction places: Bayan-Ulgii province is the westernmost province of Mongolia. Bayan-Ulgii has an area of 45.7 thousand km square and 92.6 thousand population. Its capital is Ulgii. The most famous snow-peaked mountains and glaciers are here. Nature's view in the area is quite attractive and majestic. There are plenty of rare animals, plants, rivers, and lakes to visit.  

Activity: Fly to Ulgii (3.5 hours). Meet a local driver at the airport of Ulgii. Visit the most interesting local museum of Ulgii, with comprehensive information of flora and fauna of Bayan-Ulgii as well as its colorful traditional costumes. Visit a handicraft shop.

Day 3 Drive to Tsagaan gol. Trek to Altai Mountain trek.

Attraction places: Tsagaan Gol or Potanin glacier is the biggest glacier in Mongolia. It is 20 km long and runs down from the highest mountain of Mongolia. 

Activity: Admire the natural beauty and take pictures on the way. Get the support of camels to go ahead. Trek for 11km to the base camp area at the edge of Potanin glacier.

Day 4 Full day, trek through Altai Mountains.

Attraction places: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Altai Tavan Bogd means "The Holy Five Peaks of Altai mountain range" and there are the peaks of Huiten (4374m and the highest point of Mongolia), Nairamdal, Ulgii, Burget and Malchin. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. Burial of Huns. Huns is the first Mongolian state in Mongolian history. The state was quite strong and it was the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi built the Great Wall of China.

Activity: Full day trek through the Altai Mountains. Enjoy a charming landscape and wildlife. Photographing on the way. Trek back on the other side of the Tsaagan Gol (White River) to Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where the Tuva people live. See the biggest burial from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C). Relaxation after the hard trekking.

Day 6 Drive back to Ulgii province. Visit to a Kazak nomad family on the way.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Attraction places: Kazak family. This is a place you will visit a local nomadic family and experience their way of life. Most nomadic families in the Bayan-Ulgii are Kazak and they usually have hunter eagles. They grow the eagles and train for hunting. The Kazak gers look quite charming with its handy crafts and hosts are very friendly and hospitable. 

Activity: Visit to a Kazak nomad family on the way and experience their nomadic way of the life. See their hunter eagles. Interest how Kazakh women are making felt and other handy crafts. Kazakh concert during dinner.

Day 7 Fly to Ulaanbaatar from Ulgii. Take a city tour.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Attraction places: Traditional Folklore Concert. It is a witness of the wonder of Mongolian throat singing, melodious dancing, pliant contortionism, and melodious musical instruments. All the shows of the concert will be unique and unforgettable cultural experiences for you.   

Activity: Fly to Ulaanbaatar from Ulgii (Eznis, 3.5 hours). Shopping for souvenirs, cashmere and woolen products, Show Mongolian traditional folklore concert by Moon Stone or Tumen Ekh ensemble.
